Student Programs

East Central Alberta Catholic Schools offers a broad curriculum that develops essential skills and competencies through advanced technologies, problem-solving, critical thinking, cultural enrichment and the spiritual growth of all students. In essence, we provide education with a purpose that prepares our students for their future and not our past. Parents, teachers, trustees, administrators, and the entire East Central Catholic School community are involved in the vital mission of providing an education of the highest calibre that is permeated by our Catholic faith.

Mark 1

East Central Catholic programming follows the Alberta Education curriculum offered within the context of a Catholic Christian community. East Central Catholic School Division is committed to creating an inclusive education system that inspires and enables students to achieve success and fulfillment. For a glimpse into the Alberta Education curriculum, My Child’s Learning: A Parent Resource is your doorway into your child’s world of learning. Students and parents can choose from a wide variety of programs offered in East Central Catholic Schools to best meet the individual learning needs of each student.  From Early Learning & Kindergarten to High School we offer exceptional programming across the school division. East Central Catholic Schools engage and inspire students to reach their greatest potential. We are a faith-based community that strives to inspire and prepare our students to pray, to learn, to work, to live fully and serve God in one another.

 Mark 3

The Alberta Human Rights Act requires a school board to give notice to a parent or guardian when courses of study, educational programs, instructional materials, instruction or exercises include subject matter that deals primarily and explicitly with religion. All of the schools in East Central Catholic School Division are Catholic Separate Schools, the essential purpose of which is to fully permeate Catholic theology, philosophy, practices, and beliefs, the principles of the Gospel and teachings of the Catholic Church, in all aspects of school life, including in the curriculum of every subject taught, both in and outside of formal religion classes, celebrations and exercises.

Mark 4

In keeping with the teaching of the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education, we believe a school that opens its doors only to Catholics may be a school for Catholics but is not fully a Catholic School.  Catholic Schools have an obligation and desire to accept any student so that they may share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  The population of Catholic Schools then consists of the following groups; children of practicing Catholics; children of Catholics who no longer regularly practice their faith; children of members of other Christian churches or religions; children of people who do not profess to be a member of any organized religion; and children from families who belong to non-Christian religions or churches.
