Principal - Roger Fetaz

East Central Catholic School Division is excited to announce Roger Fetaz's recent Catholic leadership award selection. Due to the recent COVID-19 challenges, Roger was unable to accept the award at the 2020 spring Catholic Blue Prints Conference. The CCSSA Excellence In Catholic Education Award was presented to Roger at the May 21st ECCS board meeting.

Roger maintains a strong relationship between the school and the church community. He is a member of the Our Lady of Grace parish in Castor and actively participates in a variety of ministries. He provides students with the opportunity to attend monthly masses and participate in the ministries and the mass. The parish priests are also encouraged to visit the school and engage with students in classroom discussions and presentations.

Roger recognizes the importance of being both an effective manager and instructional leader by modelling current instructional practices through teaching science and CTS option programs. If he isn’t coaching at school or within the community, he is driving a bus or actively helping out with extra curriculum programs to ensure the students in his school community have a variety of programming opportunities. Roger was excited about the opportunity to offer a small engine repair course to the grade nine students in East Central Catholic’s new mobile CTS trailer.

Parents and students appreciate the open-door policy to discuss school, student, and community concerns. All students can speak to how much Mr. Fetaz cares about the school, students, and community. He takes great pride in ensuring no students slipping through the cracks. The evidence of student success is in the provincial achievement results in the number of students reaching the acceptable and standard of excellence. Roger also played a key role in the implementation of The Leader In Me program which provides students with leadership and volunteer experiences. Roger is an exemplary Catholic teacher, principal and the East-Central Catholic School Division is blessed to have such a passionate, committed staff member.
