SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCEMENT
JULY 16, 2020

The Board of Trustees of East Central Alberta Catholic Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Glenn Nowosad to the position of Superintendent of Schools commencing January 1, 2021.

On behalf of our staff, students, and parents, we wish Mr. Nowosad every success in his new position.

Mr. Nowosad is a graduate of University Saskatchewan, with a Bachelors's degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology and Design. Glenn Nowosad comes to East Central Alberta Catholic Schools with a diversity of instructional and leadership experiences in several Catholic divisions across Alberta. He is currently serving the school division as the Deputy Superintendent.

Mr. Nowosad has led many different Alberta sponsored Inspiring Education initiatives that provided the opportunity to participate in action research projects exploring best practices in technology, instruction, assessment, and student achievement. Glenn was one of the eMerge one-to-one laptop project leads that received the Premier's Award of Excellence for his contributions to the research project locally and provincially. He was also recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educational leader by Apple Canada in 2009. Years later, one of Lakeland Catholic schools was the third school in Canada to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School. Glenn was also apart of a team that was recognized at the International Society for Technology in Education conference (ISTE) for their Passion Based Education submission.  Mr. Nowosad has also had business experience as the co-founder of an international educational leadership company that guided organizations through a continuous improvement process based on a soon to be published book, Leadershift 2020 - Reinventing Schools for Extraordinary and Uncertain Times.

He participated and supported faith development programs at the local and provincial levels by serving as the secretary-treasurer for the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta (CCSSA). Glenn is passionate about leading and supporting quality Catholic education through relevant learning experiences that best meet our students, parents, and teacher needs in the various communities throughout the division.

Glenn is married to Darlene, and they have three boys. He looks forward to working closely with the community and provincial partners in Catholic Education to support the mission and vision of the East Central Catholic School District.
